Ancient Greece lived on a time and place where religion & superstition come into play. Divine and semi-divine beings lived with the common people. Gods and goddesses were believed to have influenced how each day of their lives would go.

The art of ancient Greece greatly influenced the other nations around, even up to this present time. The areas of painting, pottery, sculpture and architecture proved to have been inspired by the ancient Greek’s art.

Do you know that ancient Greece popularized the barber shops? Do you know that females were said to expose their private parts to drive away storms in the sea? And who ever knew that pornography was derived from the Greeks and actually means “writings of a prostitute”?

Ancient Greece Theater evolved from the festivals in honor of Dionysus, who was the Greek god of fertility and wine. The festival was called the City Dionysia. Drunken men who were dressed in goatskins, and who would sing to welcome Dionysus led this. Different tribes competed, and those with the best performance won the contest. It was very interesting to note that these fertility and wine rituals of the cult of Dionysus developed into plays of tragedy and comedy.
